No Eating Out In August Challenge: Week 1 Review

This past weekend we didn't eat out at all. This is the first weekend in a really long time that we haven't done it. My husband did eat out on Friday for lunch but was treated by one of his co-workers so that doesn't count. (Thanks Carl. You rock!)

We also came in really under budget this past week. In total we only spent $5.95 all week on eating out. Yay for us! I am hoping for an even smaller amount next week. This week was so encouraging that I think we could eventually have a week where we don't spend anything at all. How cool would that be!

I am planning on using the Free Limeade coupons from Taco Bell that came in yesterday's paper as a treat for family home evening this week. And maybe for those days when we feel like we need a treat out. We are really loving all these free item coupons from the paper lately.

Here are the guidelines we set up for the challenge:

1. Reduce our $20.00 a week budget for eating out to $10.00 a week. Putting the extra $10.00 into our Christmas fund.

2. Try to not eat out more than one time a week. (This is particularly going to be challenging for my husband because the people at his work love to eat out and he loves to go with them.)

3. Work or church related eating out that we do not pay for does not count.

4. We will track our progress daily and report back here. I am hoping this will motivate us since we are going to have more accountability to all of you.

Good luck to all of you who may be challenging yourselves to not eat out also.
