I have mentioned this deal in the past but I was just able to purchase some Jimmy Deans coupons to get some almost free sausages at Winco. Here's the deal:

final: $.12 overage (the Meridian store gives overage YMMV anywhere else)

I went here to Coupon Dede and bought 20 coupons. They were $.15 each with a minimum order of $3.00 and shipping was $.94 (essentially I spent $3.94 for 20) . But I figured that since I was getting overage on each package then the price of each box will be around $.08 plus tax. I have used Coupon Dede before and have never had a problem. The coupon is only good until 3/6 so you will need to order some soon to get in on this deal. We love to have these around for quick week night dinners.

Albertson's Preview 2/16

I had surgery on Friday so I have really been out of the couponing track for a bit. I have been really loopy with medication that I've been on and let's just say that blogging would have been incomprehensible. My family has been really wonderful through it though, especially my dear husband. He even went coupon shopping and did Albertson's doubles for me yesterday. (Yea he's that amazing). I am really looking forward to getting back to regular life. I was hoping that the Albertson's preview would prove to be full of great deals but after looking at it I am pretty disappointed. I guess it just gives me more time to recover.

Recently a friend of mine told me of her love for Resteraunts.com. There is a local restaurant that she absolutely loves but it is so expensive. In order to afford it she buy gift certificates from Restaurants.com. Normally there is a minimal purchase requirement to use the coupon but it still is a great deal. I have been told that she has spent as little as $12.00 for a fancy dinner for two and they even had dessert. I have never tried it before but I may have to with this deal.

I was able to get 205.00 worth of stuff for only $27.00 plus tax (I have been sick so I just put away my groceries without taking a picture). Lets just say that I am now stocked up on Maxi Pads for a really long time. Here's an idea of a great way to get over $30.00 worth of products for just the tax.

One of my favorite home items to buy using this coupon are these really high quality baking sheets. They are priced at $10.97 so only $.97 after the coupon. Attach some dollar store cookie cutters and you have a nice inexpensive gift.

I really love this new policy and hope that it will be around for awhile. I shop at the Overland store in Boise and know that the above scenarios will work there. Since it is Walmart your local store may not be very coupon friendly so YMMV. Good luck!

Drugstore Deals Next Week 1/23

My family is going out of town at the end of the week and I have been forced to do my planning really early this week. I made one stop to Rite Aid this week and only bought 1 thing because everything else was out of stock. However this leaves me with a problem that I have tons of +up rewards to use by the 29th so I have to use them up when we return from our trip. Hopefully they will still have stuff in stock still on Monday morning when I normally do my shopping. I have noticed lately that the shelves have been cleared faster than normal. Pinching Your Pennies has the Albertson's preview up here. The sale starts tomarrow but I am not really impressed. There is a Quaker sale but no coupons really to go with it. If there are doubles we may be able to score a few things but mostly it is a bust for me. This best deal I see is this:

Cheap Paper From Staples Today Only!

Bountiful Basket Sign Up Starts Today

My Birthday Cake!

(No there's nothing wrong with your computer I just couldn't get the picture to rotate)

This week was my Birthday and normally I let my husband get me a cake. This year however I have been watching a lot of the show "Cake Boss" and was really excited to make my own birthday cake. I also wanted to try my hand at making fondant. Since it is a cake just for my small family I decided to not make it very big. I think that it turned out pretty well considering I had about a million interruptions while trying to make it. It was supposed to look zebra stripped but somehow it turned out more dalmatian. I am just going to call it animalish print.

I made the cake part (sour cream pound cake) from scratch which cost me about $.50 for all the ingredients. Since I had to buy stuff to make the fondant it cost me about$3.00 to make and the frosting for the inside cost about $.28. So for a fancy and yummy I might add cake it only cost around $3.78. Not too shabby since the cheapest already make cake at most stores costs over $5.00.

I had a lot of fun making this cake. Now only if we had more reasons to make cakes then I could try even more fun ideas.

Christmas Clearance At Hobby Lobby

I was out today at Hobby Lobby picking up glycerin to make fondant for a cake I am making (check back later this week to see if it turned out) and to my surprise they had all of their Christmas stuff clearanced to 80% off. I was able to pick up lots of stuff for next year for cheap. The Meridian store was packed with shoppers getting in on the sale so if you want in on it I would head over there soon before it is gone.

While your there use this coupon to get 40% off any regular priced item. I used mine on a fondant smoother.

I am such a sucker for Hobby Lobby and all of their great deals. It's a good thing that I don't live really close to one or we'd be broke.

Walmart Price Matching = My New Favorite Thing

Recently I have been loving going to Walmart and taking advantage of their price match policy. I have gotten so many things that were sold out at other stores easily. Of course I have found a Walmart and a cashier that are awesome (Overland store in Boise); so that is really why I love to go there now.

It is kind of crazy because I am the same person who boycotted Walmart for two years because of a bad experience that I had. But as long as I am treated well then I will continue to shop there, time will tell.
I got this great deal today, but I am a bit hesitant on posting it because it really is going to depend on your particular Walmart and the people who work there. If they are trained well with coupons then it should be easy sailing. Here's what I did:

6 Electrisol Tabs $1.99 price matched with Walgreens
-(my Walmart price matches to the price after the Register Reward but you could still price match the $2.99 price and get it for a great deal)

Coupons used 6 - $2.25/1 Electrosol from the 1/2 SS.
-(They did not give overage but adjusted the coupon down to $1.99.)
total: 6 for free.

If your Walmart will not give you the $1.99 price then you will pay only $.74 each, which is still an awesome price for something that is normally $4.42 there!

Winco And Coupon Overage

Right before Christmas I had to stop by Winco (the one in Meridian) to pick up a couple of things. While there they had the Holiday Glade room sprays for only $.68 each and right next to them they had one coupon for $3.00 off of three. I thought hey free room spray and picked three up. To my surprise the cashier gave me the full $3.00 off instead of letting the computer adjust the coupon down which the computer will normally do automatically ( and what has happened every time that I had gone there before). She told me that it is policy at their store that you get the full amount of the coupon since they get reimbursed for the total amount no matter what. She also told me that most cashiers don't know this and that if they don't adjust the coupon to get the manager. I went home happy with my purchase.

The next day I had to go back to Winco for something that I forgot and decided to bring along my coupons from home to buy more of the room spray for my mother in law. When I went to the register the coupon automatically adjusted the price down and I asked the cashier about it. She had no clue whether or not she could give me the whole coupon amount and called over the manager. The manager was awesome and said that they should always give the whole price of the coupon and showed the girl how to change the coupon amount. I was so happy and thought that I should pass this along. I can't guarantee that you won't get a grouchy cashier or a rude manager but from what I can gather they should be doing this and it is worth the try. I also not sure if this is this Winco store specific or if all of them will do this so it is highly your millage may vary. But if you can keep a cool head and have a bit of patience then I say bring on the coupon overage. Yay!

While at Walmart this week I noticed that they had the small containers of Gold N Soft margarine for only $.98 each use the $1.50/2 any size tubs (not sure what insert but they expire on 3/3/11) and get them for only $.24 each! I am not sure if it is this price at all Walmarts but I was at the Overland store in Boise and they were this price.

So these are not really a craft and more a recipe but they are so delicious that I had to share. Everyone who loves chocolate and peanut butter will love these.

Ritz Peanut Butter Sandwich dipped in Chocolate

Ingredients:

Your favorite peanut butter (I used smooth peanut butter)
1 bag chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
Ritz Crackers (we used the new Snowflake kind)

Spread peanut butter on one side of a Ritz cracker. Spread it kind of thick if you like peanut butter. Put another cracker on top of that to create a peanut butter Ritz sandwich. Prepare as many of these before you melt the chocolate.

Melt chocolate chips and shortening in double boiler or in a heat safe bowl placed over a pan with water in it . When melted place in a decent size bowl and drop the peanut butter Ritz sandwich inside. Turn it over so it is well coated and put it on wax paper lined cookie sheet or another container that will fit in your fridge. Place cookie sheet in fridge and allow crackers to harden at least 30 minutes.

Remove from fridge and place in airtight container. I like to keep mine in the fridge because our kitchen is so warm that they will melt. I would recommend making lots of these as they are likely not going to be around for very long.

I realized last night that my husband needs to get some gifts for his secretaries at work. They work so hard and do such a good job that they really deserve to be shown appreciation.
I can't decide what I am going to do yet for them but I did find this site with all kinds of great gifts in a jar. I never realized that there were so many things you could do. Go here to see them. I found this so cute Candy Cane Vase at All Free Crafts.com. I am excited to make one of these to use to hold the gifts I got for my son's teacher. It looks so easy to make too. Here's how to do it:

Items needed:

30 to 40 candy canes
strong rubber band
clean tin can
evergreen trimmings - cedar, pine, spruce, juniper or holly
wire-edged ribbon

Instructions:

1. Place a strong rubber band around the tin can, approximately half way down from the top.

2. Begin inserting wrapped candy canes into the rubber band so the hooked part of the cane faces outward. As you proceed around the can, you might find that the candy canes tend to fall to one side. Just keep straightening them as you work - once the last candy cane is in place, you should find that the candy canes will stay upright on their own. If not, add another rubber band, fairly close to the first one, to keep everything in place.

3. Tie a wire-edged ribbon over the rubber band and make a nice bow. If you like, you can cut the ends of the ribbon on a slant, or in a vee shape, for a nice touch.

Add fresh evergreen, your favorite holiday flowers or anything that you want!

I have been thinking for about a week that I need to decorate my house outside. Unfortunately it is cold and cold and I don't go well together. Cheap Traval Hungry Hippos Game

At Walmart they have the Travel version of Hungry Hungry Hippos priced at just $5.24. Use this coupon for $5.00/1 (no size restrictions) and score it for only $.24. Target also has them priced at $4.99 (making it free with coupon) but I have never had luck getting any in the past at Target when they have had similar coupons.

I was at the Overland Walmart in Boise today (getting myself some medacine and a belt for my hubbie) and was able to pick up two for stocking stuffers. I was so excited to find some in stock. I could never get my hands on one last year when they had this coupon. As of this morning that store only had two of them left. No one could tell me if they had any more in the back or not but they were stocking games so hopefully they will have some to put out soon. This is always a really hot coupon and deal, so I would recommend printing it now and calling ahead before heading out to make a special trip for it.

Possibly 6 Free Nutcracker Snickers At Walgreens

This week at Walgreens they have Nutcracker Snickers on sale for 3/$1.00. In yesterday's Redplum they have coupons for $2.00/3 Mars products which specifically include these. So buy 6 use one of these coupons and get it for free. Some Walgreens may reduce the coupon down so that you can only get 3 for free but it is still a great deal. This is going to be a hot deal this week so I think that I am just going to price match it at Walmart. Hopefully you will be able to score some for free. I am in need of stocking stuffers and these would be perfect.

Update: I tried to get some at my local Walgreens with no luck. They actually have been sold out for two weeks and none of the stores will be getting in any more Christmas candy. I also tried calling several other Walgreens with no luck. I think that this is such a hot item you will be hard pressed to find any in the Treasure Valley. I would recommend calling ahead and not making a special trip for this one.

A few weeks ago our church had a big craft project day called Super Saturday. We made all kinds of things. I only signed up to make one of these washer necklaces but they are so cute and easy that I wish I had made tons more. Go here You Really Made That to see how to make one for yourself.

I was at a wonderful craft bazzare today and a lady that I know was selling these for around $2.00 (which I think is an awesome price) and people were buying them up. Today's Christmas craft is one I am going to do the next time that it snows and I am bored. I made a bunch of these homemade Christmas bows a few years ago and they were a big hit. I used those scraps of gift wrap that never seem to be big enough for a present and the funnies from the newspaper. My son loved that he got one made out of Spiderman wrap. A Deal For Twilight Fans (Like Me)

I was so excited to see in my paper yesterday the ad from RC Willy. Saturday December 4th starting at 9 am. they are having a doorbuster on the movie Eclipse. It's only $9.00 for the DVD and $15.00 for the Blue Ray. This is the best price I have seen for these. The ad states that quantities are limited so I may just take my ad to Walmart and price match. The only problem I have is which to buy. We only have one blue ray player in our main room so I can only watch it on that TV if I buy the blue ray version. Oh the dilemma's this dorky mom faces!!!

Today's Christmas craft comes straight from the thrift store.

When my husband and I were in collage we had very little money for Christmas let alone decorations, so I had be creative to come up with cheap things to decorate with. I found a bunch of clear glass ornaments at the local thrift store (I think that I paid less than $1.00 for about 24 of them). And I also found a half bag of that flaky fake snow stuff and some tinsel. (which I believe that I paid around $.40 for both at a different thrift store). You can also buy the items needed to make the ornaments at a regular store but I didn't have the money to do that. I then took off the top of the ornament off (you know the part that attaches to the Christmas tree) and filled some with the snow and some with the tinsel. Put the top back on the ornament and hang on the tree.

They turned out so pretty. I even gave some away as gifts. With just a few inexpensive thrift store items I was able to have pretty things on my tree for Christmas. I just love thrift stores. I don't think that my family would have made it through collage if it weren't for them.

Tip: When filling the ornaments with the snow make a funnel out of a scrap of paper. It makes the process so much easier. And when filling with tinsel use a pencil to push the tinsel into the ornament and to move it around so it looks nice.

If you are really creative you might also try filling the ornaments with glitter, string (see picture above) or even family photos. I think this year I am going to buy some and put our family's photo and our kids photos in to give to all the grandparents as presents.

I love this time of the year and when the holiday season rolls around I start to get the itch to make something crafty. So for the next 24 days I am going to post all of my favorite crafty things that I like to do for the holidays.

Applesauce Cinnamon Dough Ornaments

Ingredients needed:

1/2 cup cinnamon
1/2 cup applesauce
1 plastic zip-loc bag

1. Pour cinnamon and applesauce into a zip-loc bag.

2. Seal the zip-loc bag and knead until the mixture turns to dough. If your dough is too dry, add a little more applesauce to it and knead again.

3. Remove mixture from the bag and form into a ball.

4. Roll out ball to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to create different shapes.

5. If you would like to hang the shapes, be sure and make a small hole toward the top of the cut-out before the dough dries so that you can put a string or ribbon through it.

6. You may create tree ornaments, gift package ties, and air fresheners with these after you allow them to air dry for 12 hours or until hard. No baking is necessary!

I was a little skeptical that it may be a bogus coupon but I was able to use it successfully at the Hallmark in the Nampa mall. The cashier said that it was totally legit.

I was able to snag a Barbie and the Rockers Hallmark Christmas ornament for less than five bucks. Talk a bought nostalgia from my childhood, they were my most favorite thing ever. I can't wait to put it on my tree!

I also used my $5.00 off of $5.00 purchase coupon that I got in the December issue of Women's Day magazine to score 2 rolls of christmas wrap for only $1.56 (includes tax). They have all $4.99 Christmas wrap on sale for buy one get one for $.99. What a fantastic deal!

We are all sick today and not able to do much but sit around. I have been playing on the internet and found this amazing thing. You can print coupons from the Swagbucks website (same as coupons.com) and for every one coupon that is redeemed you get 10 Swagbucks. How awesome is that. I can earn even more just by doing something I already do. It does take 8-12 weeks for the Swagbucks to appear on your account but that doesn't bother me. I am so excited about this find.

Just go here and make sure you are logged onto your account. Then look under Earn at the top and go to coupons. Print, use and get swagbucks. I figure that it will only take redeeming 45 coupons to earn enough Swagbucks to get a $5.00 Amazon gift card. And with the way that I use coupons those gift cards will totally add up. Yay!

Walmart Black Friday Ad Released

I was not expecting this so early but Walmart's Black Friday Ad has been released on Black Friday.net. There are some killer deals to be had. The time frame is between 5 am and 11 am. I am thinking that it seems shorter this year but maybe it's just me. Go here to check it out.

My First Bountiful Basket

I am so excited about my first Bountiful Basket that I got on Saturday. It was full of so many great things. (The picture is really bad because it was taken on a phone). This is what I got:

For all of this it cost $16.50 ($15.00 for basket and $1.50 processing fee). Plus since it was my first time getting one, I had to pay a one time fee of $3.00. If I were to buy it at the regular store (even with sales) it would have cost me at least $30.00. So getting it for $19.50 is a sweet deal. Especially for fresh produce. Also most of it is stuff that we already eat; except the persimmons which we have already tried and love.(you eat them like an apple).

If you haven't tried them before Bountiful Baskets is a food co-op. It is normally half fruit and half vegetables. You do have to have a credit or debit card to get it and there is a specific time that you have to pick it up or it gets donated to the food bank. When picking it up you need to bring a container of some sort of your own to carry it home in. You can learn more about it on there website here.

Today at 12pm is when you can start ordering and Tuesday night is the deadline. If you do decide to buy one I would do it early as spots tend to fill up quickly. I can't wait until next week.

Every year my family has a tradition of shopping the Black Friday sales. We all get together and normally the men folk watch the kids and we head to brave the craziness. Although it is really busy and I am not 100% sure it is always worth it, I just love to go. This year will be no different, except my husband really wants to go too.

I have been looking at some of the ads for Black Friday early at Blackfriday.net.
It seems like there are lots of places that I want to go but there is only one thing that I want to get at each store. This could be frustrating but I have a little secret on how I will be able to get in on most of the deals and have to only go to one store. My trick is to go to Walmart with my ads in hand an price match. It has to be for like items and within the timeframe of the sale (i.e. if the sale is only from 5am-1pm then you have to go then.) In the years past I have done this with tons of sucess. Especially if the item is not on sale at Walmart then I can go later in the day when the rush is over and get the item I want. Ironically what should be the craziest day at Walmart is normally the easiest for me. They will price match almost any ad so it should make for this Black Friday to be a little more stress free!

When I saw this cute idea from Little House on the Prairie Living I knew that it would be a perfect Chritmas gift to make for one of my neighbors. Toys R Us Hasbro Game Deal.

I have been hesitant to post anything about this deal because well I wanted to see how in stock my local store was before I got everyone's hopes up. I went yesterday and they were low on stock with most games. I wasn't able to get all the games I wanted but was able to get different games and my deal worked. I talked with the manager and he said that they should be getting in more games in on Friday. I have however not had the best luck with what they say actually being accurate so I would call before going just to be sure they have what you want.

Here's the deal details you should know:

Buy $35.00 worth of Hasbro games at Toys R Us get a $10.00 gift card and through Saturday there are lots of games on sale this week.

There are rebates for select Hasbro games that corrispond with this sale. Go here to look at and print the form or get it on tear pads in the store. I found mine right by the games. You must buy the games at Toys R Us between 10/21 to 12/31/2010 to qualify.
